Isle of Wight Youth and Community Service – Service Plan - 2003-2006 This document outlines the hopes and aspirations for the next three years in providing an exciting and quality service to all of the young people of the Island, with work focussing on the 13-19 years of age group and supporting the voluntary sector who work with young people between the ages of 9 and 25 years.
The Youth and Community Service on the Island is primarily interested in promoting and encouraging the personal and social development of young people. This is facilitated by engaging young people by using a variety of informal learning opportunities through which they can grow and develop and are empowered individuals. For youth work to be effective, high quality opportunities need to be developed and well planned. It also works to the Government’s “Transforming Youth Work” agenda.
The Isle of Wight Council’s Youth and Community Service Plan enables everyone involved in Youth Service work to build on existing provision and develop quality learning opportunities for young people on the Isle of Wight. It is intended to assist staff, colleagues and partner organisations to focus on the priorities set out for the planning period.
The Service Plan provides:
| | The curriculum for youth work as it currently stands

| | The priorities for youth work between 2003 and 2006
