BENEFITSThere are a range of benefits available to the whole community of having a School Travel Plan in place, some of which include:- |
| | | DCSF Devolved Capital Fund available for schools with an approved School Travel Plan; up to £5000 for primaries and £10,000 for secondaries |
| | | Provides curriculum opportunities by linking to a ‘real’, local issue, eg. Geography, Numeracy, Citizenship, PSHE, PE and English |
| | | Enhances the School Improvement Plan and impresses OFSTED |
| | | Schools with STPs will be recognised with IWC certification |
| | | Encourages positive links with parents, governors, businesses and the local community |
| | | It may be a requirement for all schools to have a Travel Plan when making a planning application |
| | | Can enhance the school environment for pupils and staff by reducing traffic in and around the school vicinity |
