Healthy Schools

The National Healthy School Standard (NHSS) was launched in October 1999.

The Isle of Wight has chosen to adopt a consortium approach with Hampshire, Portsmouth and Southampton.

On the Isle of Wight,10 schools were validated in 2001; 13 schools in 2002 and 17 schools in 2003. Thus forty Isle of Wight schools have been successfully validated to the National Healthy School Standard by July 2003 and by October 2003 all the Isle of Wight schools were signed up to the programme.
