Teachers’ International Professional Development Programmes (TIPD)The TIPD Programme provides teachers with the opportunity to undertake short, targeted international study visits in order to enhance their professional skills by observing classroom best practice internationally. Visits normally last between 1 and 2 weeks and take place during the school holidays. The programme is the initiative of the DfES and is fully funded by them. The LA’s TIPD Co-ordinator (Lynne Brown) identifies an appropriate theme from the list provided then advertises and selects teachers within the programme’s stated criteria. Participants meet regularly to prepare fully for the visit, supported by the LA Co-ordinator, and report formally and informally on their return from the visit in order to disseminate their findings. Study visits undertaken:Adelaide, South Australia, Easter 2005, theme - Gifted and Talented Chicago, U.S.A., Easter 2006, theme: Teachers’ Professional Development For further details contact Lynne Brown lynne.brown@iow.gov.uk For further information on TIPD access www.teachernet.gov.uk/tipd or www.lect.org.uk Click below to access Reports from the Teachers’ International Professional Development Programme:
