Development Grant Funding

DevelopmentGrantFunding00

The Early Years Service has a small budget, provided by Children’s Services. This money is to be used for the development of provision for Under Eights on the Isle of Wight and to improve the quality of that provision.

To be eligible for the Development Grant you must be registered with Ofsted which is a statutory requirement. There is also an expectation that you will continue with any relevant training.

The following criteria must be met in order for the grant to be approved:
  • The grant can be used to develop or enhance existing provision which will improve your sustainability.
  • The grant can be used to promote good practice i.e. provide/replace educational toys, replace/repair outdoor equipment, improve/provide multi-cultural and equal opportunities resources.
  • The grant can be used to upgrade existing provision in order to meet registration standards i.e. safety, heating, storage, fire precautions etc.

The application will be considered by the Childcare Strategy and Grants sub group which meets monthly. It may be necessary in some cases for a development worker to visit the setting before an application can be approved.

For a full list of criteria and an application form for development grant funding please contact the Business Support Team, at the Early Years Service, 128 Pyle Street, NEWPORT, Isle of Wight PO30 1JW they can be contacted on (01983) 550930 or (01983) 528645
