Unison Strike - 16 and 17 July Home Fair Processing Other Sections: Headteacher and Governor Briefing Packs Educational Reform Proposals |
SCHOOLS AND COUNCIL SERVICES AFFECTED BY UNISON STRIKEThough Isle of Wight Council is seeking to minimise disruption, it is likely this week's strike action by members of the authority who are Unison or Unite members will affect some services. Unison, in discussion with the council, has however taken steps to ensure ‘life and limb’ services and those serving the most vulnerable residents remain unaffected by the strike action on July 16 and 17. However customers may experience a reduction in some areas and a small number of schools will be closed and a number of others affected by the industrial action. In addition all libraries and some leisure facilities will also be closed. The Fire Service will not be affected and Wightbus will operate to its normal timetable, although some services may be affected Every effort has been made by schools to avoid disruption to students and parents. Although very few schools will close for the day, some may be operating a reduced timetable or may be closing early. These schools have written to parents informing them of the situation. If parents require further information, they should contact their child's school. Local authority services that are not listed below will remain open although some may be subject to either delayed or reduced services.
