Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)

The Council has an Employee Assistance programme (EAP) for employees and councillors, and has arranged for a company called Personal Performance Consultants (PPC) to provide this service.

The Employee Assistance Programme provides the very best advice and support for you and your family household members. This also includes partners living at your address and any children that may be away at university. With just one phone call you can access this FREE confidential service designed to make your work and home life easier. You can call at anytime, as the service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Personal Development

Everybody wants to get the best out of life and with PPC you can do just that. They can help you to improve your personal attributes such as assertiveness or communication skills and give you the confidence to reach out and achieve your personal goals.

Counselling Service

Counselling is an excellent way to help you achieve a positive outlook on life. There are no set criteria to meet before you’re entitled to counselling so you can discuss whatever is on your mind whenever you want! Most people find that one call is normally all that’s needed to put their minds at rest but expert advisors are also trained to identify the situations where face-to-face counselling would be more beneficial.

In these cases, professionally qualified counsellors work in partnership with you to help you get back to a confident and harmonious frame of mind by understanding, addressing and overcoming your concerns. Face-to-face counselling takes place in a professional counselling suite on the Island (in most cases) and will normally require no more than 6 one hour sessions. The counsellor is there to support you and, if more support is required, help you access ongoing resources within your local community.

Although the EAP is provided as part of your benefits package from the Isle of Wight Council it operates as a completely independent, impartial and confidential service. You can be assured that nothing discussed between you and your Personal Advisor will ever be communicated to anyone else without your permission.

All you need to do is obtain the free phone number from the poster which is displayed on the notice board in your staff room.
PPC Online

A new service has also been added to your Employee Assistance Programme: PPC Online

You now have access to an online resource where you can seek information and advice on a wide range of topics to do with work-life, personal support and Health and well-being. The information, in the form of hundreds of fact sheets and useful links, is drawn from a number of professional sources and presented in format that’s easy to read and download. You will find information on many subjects.

It’s free, quick, simple and confidential. All you need to do to gain access is log on to:- www.ppconline.info

All you need to do is obtain the Username and Password from the poster which is displayed on the notice board in your staff room.
PPC Online provides a useful complement to the services that are available through the Employee Assistance Programme. Please note that the information provided on the many subjects on the above website does not mean that you can obtain advice and information over the phone on some of these subjects (Legal Queries, Financial & Tax, Benefits & Grants). These areas are deemed additional services, which PPC has no agreement with the Isle of Wight Council to provide.

Teachers can also contact the Teacher Support Network.

The Network is a group of independent charities and a social enterprise in the United Kingdom and the United States of America, that provide practical and emotional support to staff in the education sector and their families.
