HEADTEACHERS’ CPD PROGRAMME – LEADING IMPROVEMENT THROUGH THE PRIMARY FRAMEWORK – DAY 3 AND 4
MAN/EC/

Target Group: Headteachers – Primary (R – Yr6).

Aims:
  • To strengthen the leadership of school improvement through the Primary Framework.
  • To support headteachers in using the Primary Framework as a tool to strengthen teaching, learning and assessment.
  • To maintain the focus in collaborative classroom-based CPD.
  • To prepare schools for the implementation of the progression agenda.

Objectives / Learning Outcomes:
  • Embedding the use of the Primary Framework in the school improvement cycle.
  • Strengthening leadership in the school and leadership of mathematics and English.
  • Improve day-to-day and periodic assessment through the APP tools and processes.
  • Improving teaching and learning in key areas of mathematics and English.
  • Preparing for the focus on progression in mathematics and English to raise the attainment of all children.

Intended Impact on practice:

Headteachers have the understanding and knowledge to:
  • Strengthen the progresses underpinning the evidence base for school self evaluation and improvement.
  • Use the AfL area of the Primary Framework to lead teachers in the use of the APP process and tools to strengthen periodic assessment and tracking and improve learning.
  • Introduce, lead and manage whole school approaches to standardisation and moderation.
  • Review the quality of planning and teaching using the Primary Framework.
  • Implement, sustain and evaluate the impact of collaborative classroom-based CPD.
