GIFTED AND TALENTED TEACHER TRAINING ABC/EC/02
Target Group: Teachers with responsibility for gifted and talented who have not yet received Leading Teacher training. This training is cross phase, with the opportunity to work in primary and secondary groups on the day.
The course aims to train and support Leading Teachers for gifted and talented education to enable them to carry out their role effectively.
Objectives / Learning Outcomes: - To explore and understand the role of Gifted and Talented Leading Teacher and how it contributes to school improvement.
- To develop effective strategies to identify gifted and talented learners and track their attainment and progress.
- To become familiar with the National Quality Standards and how to use them to self-evaluate whole-school gifted and talented provision.
- To know hoe to use the outcomes of the self-evaluation to inform the development of an action plan for gifted and talented improvement.
Intended Impact:
Participants will: - understand the role of the Leading Teacher;
- become familiar with appropriate support tools and resources;
- identify gifted and talented pupils for the National Register;
- self-evaluate whole-school gifted and talented provision using the National Quality Standards;
- develop an action plan for gifted and talented improvement.
