BASIC NUTRITIONAL AWARENESS AND FOOD IN SCHOOLS UPDATE
HSC/EC

Target Group: All School Staff and Governors.

This course aims to provide an understanding of basic nutritional awareness using Balance of Good Health Guidelines. An update around legislation and school food provision will also be covered.

Objectives / Learning Outcomes:
  • To develop consistent messages around food throughout our school community.
  • To have a basic nutritional awareness.
  • To understand new legislation around food provision in schools.

Intended Impact:
  • School staff are more confident in delivering consistent messages around nutritional aspects of food in the context of a whole school approach. Schools are also aware of their responsibilities when providing food to their school community.

Course Trainers: Catherine-Ann Milford – Pure Training and Helen Lewis – Healthy Schools Lead Officer

Dates and Times can be arranged with individual schools. It is recommended that a two hour twilight session is used and that all staff members can attend.
