CAROUSEL OF ARTS CONFERENCE EYS/EA/334
Target Group: All Early Years Practitioners i.e. Reception Class Staff, Pre-Schools, Nurseries and Childminders.
The Carousel of Arts Conference from Jenny Mosley Consultancies will include a keynote speech from Jenny Mosley herself, followed by 3 workshops. Participants will be allocated a group on the day, ensuring that everyone will have the opportunity to attend all workshops.
Workshop: Sambastic Location: The Victoria Room Trainer: Dave Brooks - Jenny Mosley Consultancies
Aims: - To communicate with each other; listening and appropriately responding using music.
- To enjoy something very different, out of the comfort zone, achieving success and building confidence.
- To experience belonging to a larger collective.
Objectives: - To be able to take back a simple system of teaching rhythm to children of all ages.
- For delegates to work with a range of people, not just friends and colleagues – Samba is non-hierarchical.
- To have fun – it is difficult not to enjoy making loud noises with big drums!
Intended Impact: - Samba workshops are delivered within a drum circle, making the experience completely immersive and interactive. Techniques build individuals’ confidence in their musical ability and willingness to teach others.
- Encouraged mutual respect, defied hierarchical boundaries and focussed minds on key messages of the day – all in the ‘feel-good’ energy of samba music.
Workshop: The Power of Puppets Location: The Albert Room Trainer: Georgia Thorpe - Jenny Mosley Consultancies
Aims: - To use puppets and soft toys to promote personal, social and emotional development.
Objectives: - To build confidence and learn techniques using puppets and soft toys.
- To use puppets in storytelling to develop empathy, emotional literacy and problem-solving skills.
- To use puppets, soft toys and simple props to engage and stimulate children’s imagination and creativity.
- To explore how puppets can be used to develop children’s speaking and listening skills.
- To learn a range of Circle Time games to help raise children’s self-esteem and develop social skills.
Intended Impact: - The practitioner will be more confident to introduce the learning outcomes in their own setting.
Workshop: More than Splish, Splash, Splosh Location: The Medina Room Trainer: Anne Poole, Jenny Mosley Consultancies Aims: - To explore different art and craft materials in ways to stimulate the imagination, using a variety of techniques that are applicable to Early Years
- To encourage individual creativity
- To have fun!
Objectives: - To explore ideas and experiment with materials
- To learn a variety of techniques
- To develop practitioners’ confidence with art and craft
- To discover ways of stimulating the imagination
- To understand why art and craft is important to Early Years development
- To give ideas for integrating the areas of learning through fun activities
Intended Impact: - Practitioners will be more confident to use art and craft to develop creativity across the areas of learning.
