DEVELOPING INDEPENDENCE IN THE EARLY YEARS FOUNDATION STAGE
EYS/EA/354

Target Group: All Early Years practitioners i.e. Preschools & Nurseries, Childminders and Reception Class Teachers and Assistants, working with children up to 5 years.

Course Aims:

Delegates will have opportunities to consider:
  • The key role the learning environment has in supporting children in their developing independence
  • The importance of a daily routine that enables children to develop their independence through facilitating a balance between adult-directed tasks and opportunities for extensive quality child-initiated learning
  • The role all practitioners in a setting have to support children in their emotional independence

Course Trainer: Sarah Kingham - an Early Years Advisor in Hertfordshire. Recently, Sarah led a countywide project developing young children as writers, built on current research and her own knowledge and experience.
