DEVELOPING READING

Target Group: Years 4, 5 and 6 Teachers
Aims: - To enable teachers to explore the main issues involved in improving children’s reading
- To examine how the Primary Framework for literacy can inform and support planning for progress
- To discuss the place and purpose of guided and shared reading
- To explore approaches to the teaching of reading comprehension.
Objectives/Learning Outcomes: - Teachers are aware of the main issues involved in improving children’s reading
- teachers feel more confident in using the Primary framework for literacy to support planning
- teachers feel more confident in teaching of reading comprehension.
