EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION SKILLS
PPD/EC/11

Target Group: All Children’s Services Personnel in schools and centrally based.

To develop techniques and practice skills that will enable participants to deal confidently with challenging or difficult situations or behaviour, both at work and in their personal lives.

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
  • Identify the difference between assertive, aggressive, passive and manipulative behaviour.
  • Recognise their own ‘crumple buttons’ and use skills to overcome these.
  • Understand the significance of body language and non-verbal signals.
  • Say ‘no’ instead of ‘yes’ and then regretting it!

Participants will feel more comfortable and confident in their workplace, particularly when confronting situations or behaviour which usually ‘crumples’ them.

Course Leader: Alison Botha, an experienced trainer and practising groupworker and counsellor. Her freelance consultancy ‘Advance Training’ was established in 1997.
