Community and Family Learning | The Local Authority supports the development of Adult and Community Learning opportunities in the Isle of Wight. We support the community by developing wider opportunities for learning that can help develop peoples knowledge, understanding and skills throughout their lives. Learning is not just about formal lessons. Whether you want to develop new interests, skills or just have fun, we have many opportunities for you. Successful participation in learning activities can lead to a greater involvement in work and community activities, engage reluctant learners and develop people's confidence and self esteem. Providing learning programmes for adults in community settings in a range of subjects in order to support personal development, well being and community spirit. The service also manages the Carnival Learning Centre in Ryde and supports carnival arts across the Island. Family Learning programmes encourage families to learn together; to gain skills in helping support their children's learning and/or brush up their own skills in reading, writing and maths. | The IW Council produces an Adult and Community Learning Plan which details its strategic priorities and partnerships for providing a wide range of learning activities.
