So where do you start ?There are so many ways of learning and so many different qualifications that the range of courses and subjects available is massive. The National Qualifications Framework contains qualifications at six levels. It has been developed to ensure that there is equivalence between different types of qualification at the same level. Below is a table showing some of the qualifications within the first four levels, that are usually studied by 14-19 year olds in schools and colleges and how they relate to each other. The Government has been moving towards giving students over the age of 14 greater choice and flexibility in their studies. This initiative is based around qualifications being studied in levels of equal value. E.g. a BTec First diploma is of an equivalent standard to achieving the higher grades at GCSE.
