Can I study at two different centres to get the right mix of subjects? Yes, you can, subject to timetable constraints. One centre will be your base and only with their approval can this happen. What if I want to go to one centre but it’s not my school at the moment? That’s OK, ask your Head of Sixth and find out more details about how to go about it. Can I change centres at the end of Year 12? Yes this is possible. You won’t lose the credit for any AS or vocational award you have studied but seek advice before changing centres. What happens if I just want to carry on studying at the same school I’m at now? That’s fine, most students are happy to do so. You can always discuss your choices with people within your own school or with your Personal Advisers. What if I want a change of scenery and people? Think about a move to another school, college or work based provider. Check the contact numbers enclosed and ring the appropriate centre to get some fresh ideas. I know what I want to do, do I have to follow this choice? No, this initiative is to give choice to those who can’t get what they want from their own centre or don’t know what to do. What do you think is the best thing to do? Think about what you want; talk to the centres (contact numbers enclosed); ask to look round the centre; ask if you can have a look at what’s on offer. Will all this affect my chances of employment or getting into higher education? Not at all. The choice will allow you to study more practical subjects if that’s what you like. Alternatively, you can stay with the more academic route or even get a mixture of both. Universities are committed to this initiative and you can tailor your studies to the career of your choice. Ask your Personal Adviser for further advice. |
