14-19 Strategic PlanThe 14-19 Strategic Plan is the Local Authority’s plan for taking the 14-19 agenda forward and to enable us to fulfil the curriculum entitlement in 2013 for our young people. The document has had the close involvement of the 14-19 Partnership in its development as well as wider consultation through a range of forums including 14-19 Consortium, IW Connexions and the Chamber of Commerce
The 14-19 Strategic Plan’s vision is to enable all young people to develop their talents and fulfil their potential, supporting progression to further education, skilled employment or higher education. The key strategic priorities are to raise participation; improve progression; improve standards; embed collaboration and to improve the quality of education for the young people aged 14-19 on the Isle of Wight. The Plan builds on the previous 14-19 Strategy with a focus on leadership and management, raising standards, information, advice and guidance, curriculum development and increasing participation. The Strategic Plan links into the recommendations from the 2007 & 2008 Annual Performance Assessment (APA), as well as the Local Authorities Local Area Agreement (LAA) targets. These in turn support the national indicator sets assigned us. The Strategic Plan fulfils the Local Authorities requirement to contribute to the outcomes for Economic Well Being and Enjoy and Achieve The Strategic Plan also prepares for changes to governance with funding and strategic planning moving from the Learning and Skills Council to the Local Authority and for the Local Authority to work in partnership in sub regional arrangements with neighbouring authorities, which reflects travel to learn patterns.
