Headteachers’ and Governors’ Questions

When will we hear about individual school closures?

The future of each school under each of the different options will be published as part of the consultation document in January 2008. This will be part of the informal consultation so decisions may change depending on the responses received to the proposals. Further consultation, school by school, will take place later on this year following the Council’s decision in March.

How will information be communicated about the timeline and structural change?

Regular updates will be communicated through the council’s website, media releases and briefings and through the distribution of other communication material as appropriate

What will happen to a Governing Body if the school is to close?

If a school closes, the governing body will be dissolved. If a school amalgamates with another school, both governing bodies will be dissolved and a new governing body established. We will encourage governors to apply for positions at other schools, if they no longer have a position on a governing body due to the closure of a school.
