Finance Questions
| Can we afford to implement the options? |
| Yes. Most funding for schools comes from a government money called the Direct Schools Grant (DSG), which is calculated according to the number of pupils in our schools, not the number of schools we have. All 3 options will be more affordable than our present structure. |
| Is this really all about saving money? |
| No. The amount of money available to spend on schools, the Direct Schools Grant, (DSG) is largely set by central government and has to be spent on schools and closely related activities. The same amount of money will therefore be spent whichever option is chosen but far more effectively than it is now. |

| How will all this be funded? |
| Schools will continue to be funded through various government funds available to the council. The Local Authority will also use existing Children’s Services budgets. The taxpayer will not face any extra costs as a result of the reorganisation. |
| How will the new buildings be funded? |
| The council is eligible to apply for government funding for school buildings across the respective education sectors including primary and secondary. The council also has existing funds set aside for school building improvements. |
| Will there be an increase in Council Tax to fund the proposed changes? |
| Funding requirements both capital and revenue will predominantly be met by the capital grant and will not therefore directly affect the council tax rate. |
