Extended Schools: Improving Access to Sexual Health Advice Services

AccesstosexualhealthgcareadviceINTRO00

This guidance is for senior managers in secondary schools, secondary school governing bodies and colleagues in local authorities responsible for driving forward the Extended Schools programme.

This best practice guidance responds to requests for practical advice and support on setting up school-based health advice services, designed to give young people access to the advice and support they need to achieve healthy lifestyles and avoid health outcomes that impact negatively on their learning.

It builds on recent guidance to Local Authorities and PCTs on effective delivery of local teenage pregnancy strategies, which included a range of measures to improve young people’s access to contraceptive and sexual health advice.
