Latest Extended School News from Downside Middle
A Warhammer Club is run at Downside Middle School where the pupils bring in models and create their own scenery and organise campaigns. The club involves the older students in the delivery and a teacher, who takes part in the club as an attendee not as a teacher in the role of authority. See the link on the left hand navigation bar for more details. NEWPORT WOMEN’S DAY: The second Newport Women’s Day of the year was held at Downside Middle School at the end of May. This event attracted over 110 participants, and offered workshops from Circus Skills, to Bricklaying. Participants attended from all parts of the island.
HOLIDAY CLUB: The half term holiday activity club attracted more than 30 children to 4 different activities. The popular War Hammer session was delivered by 2 high school pupils, and the interest has resulted in a Weekly War Hammer club being planned at the school for pupils. The community chef, delivered the Healthy Lunch Box cooking sessions, and the popular course was attended by pupils from Solent Middle, & Barton Primary school. The Holiday Club is being used as one of the transition projects between Barton and Downside.
