Youth and Community Service Family Learning Wight ChYPS Other Sections: Parent Partnership Children and Young People's Services |
There are many services and facilities on the Island for children and young people, often the problem is knowing what is out there. During the consultation process for the Local Preventative Strategy, children and young people were asked for their view on services locally. 96% said it should be easier to find out about services and to get help. The recent service mapping process carried out by the multi-agency cluster groups across the Island revealed that even service providers have limited knowledge of what other services exist, and less knowledge of what they do. “Every Child Matters” calls for all local authorities to provide a directory of services in their area and here on the Island we have developed the Children and Young People’s Service Directory to answer this obvious need. This is a one-stop-shop for children, young people, their families/carers and professionals working with them, to locate and find out about what is available. Who looks after it? The Family Information Zone (FIZ) co-ordinate the content of the directory, but the directory is designed for local service providers to keep their own information up to date through the website. An increasing number of service providers are starting to do this. What is included? The directory includes any services that may be of use to the target group – whether provided by the statutory, voluntary or other independent agencies. The number and range of entries is increasing all the time. For further information contact FIZ on 821999 Click below to access the Wight ChYPS Website: |
