Transition

Transition2INTRO00

Transferring to a new school or moving between key stages can be an exciting yet frightening time for any child and a worrying time for parents.

Schools are working hard to support pupils in their learning at all times and especially at times of transition or transfer.
All pupils must be able to continue their learning, fulfil their potential within an environment that allows them to feel confident, relaxed and valued in an atmosphere which encourages their all round development.

On the Isle of Wight we place the child at the centre of the transfer/transition process and the purpose of this Web area is to ensure that guidance and support is available to all and that good practice is shared across the Island.

‘TRANSITION’ describes the movement that takes place from one year to the next, and in particular from one phase to the next within the school. This is different from ‘TRANSFER’ which describes movement from one school to the next.
