A centre for SEN, aiming to provide a wide range of advice
and materials for teachers, parents and others interested
in working with children with special educational needs.


Useful information about many aspects of education, e.g. what your child is learning, how they are tested, admissions, health and welfare and learning at home. There is also help and advice on Special Educational Needs.


Mental health is about maintaining a good level of personal and social functioning. For children and young people, this means getting on with others, both peers and adults, participating in educative and other social activities, and having a positive self-esteem. Mental health is about coping and adjusting to the demands of growing up.


OASSIS offers a unique information service for parents and professionals. If you believe a person in your care may have special needs or you are struggling to get the answers you require, contact OAASIS. If they cannot help then they will point you in the right direction. 


Dyslexia Action is a national charity and the UK's leading provider of services and support for people with dyslexia and literacy difficulties.


The Dyspraxia Foundation supports individuals and families affected by developmental dyspraxia and increases the understanding and awareness of this disability.


The Down's Syndrome Association support parents and carers of people with Down's syndrome and helps improve the lives of people with this condition


Down’s Heart group is a charity offering support and information relating to heart conditions associated with Down's Syndrome.


A parent-led organisation that helps children and young people with speech and language impairments and their families. Provides information for parents and professionals and produces a range of publications.


The Invest to Save Budget Project website which includes local support groups, research news, local news and a discussion forum for families on the Isle of Wight affected by autism.


The site includes information about autism and Asperger syndrome, and about the support and services available in the UK

The Royal National Institute for Deaf People (RNID)
helps deaf and hard-of-hearing people in the UK.


Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB)
Helps blind and partially sighted people in the UK


Scope is a disability organisation in England and Wales whose focus is people with cerebral palsy. Scope's aim is that disabled people achieve equality: a society in which they are as valued, and have the same human and civil rights, as everyone else.


SCOPE – Early Years
- a newly launched early years website which includes areas for advice, information, discussion and interaction between disabled and non-disabled children, parents and professionals.


The National Association for Special Educational Needs (NASEN)
Promotes the education, training, advancement and development of all those with special educational needs.


EQUALs is an organisation of schools and individuals that work on entitlement and quality education for pupils with severe learning difficulties.
Parents helping parents so that disabled children can
learn, make friends and have a voice in ordinary school
and throughout life.


The children.s mental health charity which has a range of information on a variety of subjects such as ADHD, adolescents, bereavement, children under 12, depression, education and mental health.
Contact a Family (CaF) is a UK charity helping families who
care for children with any disability or special need . The website has information on over 1,000 rare syndromes and rare disorders and can put families in touch with each other.


The Advisory Centre for Educations website provides help and advice for parents, complementing their telephone advice work. It allows access to advice and information on schooling issues 24
hours a day and offers the opportunity to download several of ACE.s publications for free


This website is to help support brothers and sisters of people with disabilities. The group offers the opportunity for siblings to
communicate with their peers and share their feelings and fears. It’s a modern exciting group where the members take an active role in the organisation and the decision making. Thanks to the support of the Tuberous Sclerosis Association people can communicate using the website, participate in social activities and take the time to feel special.


Resources, freeware downloads, links and documents for those involved in the education of pupils with learning difficulties, autism and other special educational needs. Some of the materials may also be of use to teachers and parents of primary aged children
