English - Post 16 | | Schools and colleges offer a variety of advanced level courses. You will usually be able to choose from:
- general AS and A level (GCE);
- vocational AS and A level (VCE);
- other vocational qualifications, such as the BTEC National Diploma or NVQs.
| | | When you join “A” Level English Literature you will be rubbing shoulders with such writers as; Stephen King, Jane Austen, William Shakespeare, Angela Carter, Seamus Heaney and John Betjeman. Now, they won’t all be in your class but you’ll get the chance to read, discuss and enjoy their work. English Language is a worthwhile and interesting area of study at 'AS' and 'A2' level involving you in the fascinating study of how we all use language. You will learn communication skills which will be useful in many careers, including scientific and technical ones. Both English Language and Literature are, of course recognised for university entrance.
