- 50% of schools to have evidence of providing enhancement to the curriculum, involving pupils, through global links (40\% in 2007);
- 50% of schools to have planned for teachers’ personal and professional development through a global link (29% in 2007);
- 50% of schools to have Foundation, Intermediate of full ISA status (11% of survey respondents in 2007);
- 40% of schools to include the global dimension in their School Development Plan (29% in 2007);
- 33% of schools to have established eTwinning opportunities (some known in 2007, but no firm information on the percentage of schools involved);
- 25% of schools to have contributed a case study to the LA website (none in 2007);
- 12% of schools to have been involved in a British Council sponsored visit to China (grant application in 2007 successful);
- The LA website to have developed a comprehensive section on the Eduwight website providing information on how to establish and develop international links and find funding to support planned activities (none in 2007).
How will this be accomplished? - Publish and promote the global partnership scheme using the Global Gateway through targeted schools, providing simple “how to” starter advice;
- Publish and promote opportunities for eTwinning by working with schools through information and hands-on support and monitor involvement;
- Survey schools at two fixed points – March and July 2008 – to measure the success of plans to encourage the global dimension;
- Collect, edit and promote exemplar material on the global dimension in the curriculum using the QCA model and the LA website;
- Provide information and target schools to engage in or develop ISA using support from the British Council (John Rolfe) and the Language College at Ryde H.S;
- Provide examples of the Global Dimension in School Development Plans, to be posted on the website, provided by schools locally and on the mainland;
- Support activities relating to the headteachers’ visit to China in 2008 and the opportunities provided by grant support linked to China Now;
- An LA website to be established in the week of 19th November, 2007, and developed by monthly additions up to July 2008 using British Council information, our International Links Consultant and schools’
