The Benefits of Being Involved:
- full involvement in the Healthy Schools Partnership will benefit pupils, the school and the wider community in a variety of ways
- involvement in the Partnership promotes health in its widest sense. This includes the emotional and physical well-being of all pupils and staff of the school, as well as the community of which the school forms a part.
Pupils will:
- develop greater confidence, motivation and self-esteem
- acquire and develop the skills, information and understanding to make important life and health choices
- gain better access to any support services they may need
- be more likely to achieve higher academic results within a setting that supports their health and well being
- actively participate in the management of their own learning
- learn how to develop good relationships and respect the differences between people
Schools will:
- improve performance in academic and non-academic areas
- develop the personal, social, health education and citizenship curriculum
- develop links with and involve the whole school community
- develop a whole school approach to all aspects of life
- have opportunities to positively promote the school, locally and nationally
- develop stronger external partnerships, including sharing good practice with other schools
- improve their environment
- provide greater support and professional development for all staff
- gain maximum support from external agencies and coherence between national initiatives
Communities will:
- work alongside schools in reducing social exclusion, disaffection and disadvantage
- have the opportunity to influence, contribute to, and celebrate what goes on in schools
- benefit from closer ties and greater understanding between schools and external agencies
Children and young people achieve most when they are confident and feel empowered to challenge and contribute to their community. Involvement in the Partnership encourages this.
