The Self-Validation Process

‘A healthy school is one that is successful in helping pupils to do their best and build on their achievements.’

Self - Validation


It is the schools’ responsibility to demonstrate how it meets the required standard in relation to whole school criteria and to the specifics of the chosen focus areas.

The Process of Self-Validation
  • Attend briefing on new standards
  • Audit current practice using local audit tool
  • Identify outcomes to be monitored
  • Action plan to meet any gaps identified
  • Review progress
  • Make submission to Healthy Schools Lead Officer
  • Quality Assurance Group receives submissions
  • Three week clarification period
  • Quality Assurance Group agree with submission
  • School achieves the National Healthy School Standard
  • School receives new logo
  • School entered on national database
  • Celebration!!!
