Isle of Wight Healthy Schools StrategyIn October 1999, the government launched the National Healthy School Standard (NHSS). Since then ALL schools on the island have signed up to the local scheme. To date, 55 schools have been successfully validated, 10 have been re-validated and another 11 to be re-validated in 2006/2007. The three strategic aims of the Healthy Schools Programme:
