‘Class’ was the result of a challenge set for art teacher Karen Sunderland at the start of her employment as Advanced Skills Teacher for the Island’s Gifted and Talented Students. Criteria for the challenge was simple; a celebration of achievement by the Island’s talented students, across all years and Key Stages. Talented pupils think and express themselves in original and creative ways. They challenge the work you set and often follow an inventive route to a solution. They are driven by ideas and will see their work through from conception to realisation with little or no support. They push boundaries and take risks through the process of idea development, unsure of what the outcome may be the process itself takes on a greater importance.Their interest in the world of art & design is passionate. Often highly skilled in one or more medium, they are keen to use and extend their range of technical abilities. They use materials and processes in creative, practical and inventive ways. Critically alert they make unusual connections between their own and other’s work. They use their knowledge and understanding to extend their own thinking and realise their intentions. This exhibition brings together the work of the Islands talented school children. Its’ richness and diversity shows the range of opportunities that our students respond to. Being able to share in their development is at times inspirational, always exciting and generally a challenge.Click on the Gallery on the left hand navigation bar to access more pictures from the exhibition. |
