KS3 Framework for teaching ICT capability

The interaction, responsiveness and speed of communication offered by ICT command interest and attention among pupils of all ages. ICT gives them a strong feeling of being in control. The ICT curriculum needs to capitalise on this interest and motivation and set high expectations for pupils’ learning.
The Framework is an integral part of our Key Stage 3 Strategy. It draws on the experience gained from the pilot programme and existing good practice in schools.

Draft Scheme of Work
As 2004 is the first real year of implementing the KS3 ICT curriculum into our schools it has been suggested that for this year some schools may need to concentrate on introducing the year 7 teaching units to both years 7 and 8, extending the year 8 teaching with appropriate year 8 objectives, where they build on the year 7.
All schools have different needs and are at different stages in assimilating the KS3 strategy framework into their working practice.
We have developed a draft scheme working with some schools which you may like to adopt, modify or contextualise to your own needs.

Starter activities and resources for the lessons are tagged green, plenary sessions red and assessment opportunities pink.
There is also an objective tracking sheet for each unit in Excel format if you wish to track objectives for the pupils.
